Only 58 Missouri student councils earned the recognition this year.

Have you noticed those Soles4Souls collection boxes in local retailers?
Did you know support for this non-profit is helping kids right here in #FZSD?
Soles4Souls is partnering with the district, providing new shoes for students in need. “It means so much to the kids to be able to pick them out for themselves,” says Deanna Kruse, Coordinator of Homeless & Residency Services, who helped secure the partnership with Soles4Souls to make shoes available in sizes for any age.
If you or someone you know is an FZSD family in need, please contact your school Mental Health Professional to connect with community resources. #FZEquipToExcel

For the fourth consecutive year, our four high schools have been recognized as Project Lead The Way (PLTW) as Distinguished Schools. #PLTW is a national curriculum that offers students hands-on learning in biomedical science, engineering and computer science. Participating students have the opportunity to earn college credit while in high school. PLTW recognizes Distinguished Schools for their commitment to increasing student access, engagement, and achievement in their PLTW programs. Congrats!

The annual FZ Art Show is open 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. at the Professional Development Center today and tomorrow, and from 9 a.m. - Noon on Friday.

#FZCommunity we’ve done it again! For the seventh consecutive year our #FZSD high schools are again among America’s Best according to US News & World Report, and among the Top 20 high schools in Missouri. Partnering to ensure we Educate, Empower and Equip Students to Excel.

When 2024 Educator of the Year Jennifer Kist, a special education teacher at the Early Childhood Center, visiting 2024 Employee of the Year Zach Miller, a diesel mechanic, at the Transportation Center, she learned more about the work that makes it possible to transport thousands of students each day. Like many, Kist was impressed when she heard about Transportation’s tradition of excellence.
Congratulations and thank you to our Transportation Team, who scored a 100% on the annual Missouri State Highway Patrol Safety Inspection again this year. It is the 22nd consecutive year the team has earned the Missouri Highway Patrol Fleet Excellence Award for safety, only given to those who score 90 percent or better on the inspection.
In January, the team was down to one mechanic, Miller, who was working with five unfilled positions. Thankfully, they were fully staffed when, in mid-March a hail storm knocked out windshields, safety lights, and turn signals. With spare parts on hand, our mechanics had those buses repaired and back on the road without missing a single stop.

⚠️ Due to the forecast of severe weather, all afterschool and evening events will be canceled today, May 8, 2024, in the Fort Zumwalt School District.

They serve an average of 9,000 meals each day, empowering learning from ages 3 to 18. Together, the teams in our 25+ kitchens have averaged a 99.76% on their 56 kitchen inspections. Thank you to our School Lunch Heroes! #FZEquipToExcel

These 4th and 5th graders were taking on the litter problem when they created their entry for MoDOT’s No MOre Trash! Trash-Can-Decorating Contest. But when Bob Becker, St. Louis District Manager for MoDOT visited the Twin Chimneys Elementary Media Production Club, they were stunned when he told them how big the problem is. He shared that the department spent $13 million last year cleaning up litter, dropping jaws and bugging out eyes.
“It’s not just that litter looks bad,” he told students. “It’s bad for the environment and it’s a safety hazard. It clogs drains and water collects on the roadways. That’s why it’s important to create awareness of the problem.”
He praised their entry and stopped for a photo with a check for $200 the club can use for tools for their projects in the future.
