A Message from Superintendent Dr. Henry St. Pierre

Summer is always exciting, but this year in Fort Zumwalt it allows us to celebrate the past and shape the future. July 11 marks the 60th anniversary of when the Board of Education of the Central County R-II School District voted to change the name to Fort Zumwalt School District. In those 60 years, our elected Board of Education members and employees have worked together with the community to establish a tradition of academic excellence and a reputation for strong fiscal stewardship. I am proud to be a part of that story and look forward to our continued partnerships in shaping what’s next.

To that end, we hope you’ll join us for the first of our new Community Connections events. There are two chances next week to tour the Transportation Center, which just opened this month. Come for the tour and stay for the conversation either 9:30 a.m., Monday, June 29 or 6 p.m., Tuesday, June 30. The new Transportation Center is located at 2100 Salt River Road, next door to the St. Charles County Ambulance District. More events will be announced later this summer. We will also continue to have our Soup’s On! luncheons for residents older than 55 twice each year. Those are scheduled for noon on Thursday, Oct. 22 and again on Wednesday, March 31. Send an email to reserve your spot.

We have completed a demographic study to provide us with the best data we can obtain on student population projections and are finishing a Physical Needs Assessment, which systematically evaluates our 34 facilities and projects maintenance requirements. We have spent the past year reviewing and revising our Continuous School Improvement Plan (CSIP), which sets our goals and action steps for the next three years. Once approved by the Board, it will be submitted to the state Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. In true Fort Zumwalt fashion, it sets ambitious goals that will require each of us to do our part in order to meet our mission. Expect to hear more before classes begin Aug. 25. It is my honor to serve as your Superintendent as we set course for the future and team up to Educate, Empower and Equip Students to Excel.
