2026 Educator of the Year Steven Schlarman

Steven Schlarman teaches the Project Lead The Way Biomedical strand at North High School. He learned in front of an all-school assembly, complete with drumline, that he has been selected the 2026 Fort Zumwalt School District Educator of the Year.

PLTW offers students a four-year exploration of the science but also of the wide variety of career opportunities available to those with a background in the biomedical sciences. More than that, studying in Schlarman’s classroom is fun.

“His enthusiasm for working with us and science is contagious and keeps everyone engaged in the classroom,” one student wrote in a nomination. Among others:

“Mr. Schlarman always takes the extra step to make sure that we understand the material with the least amount of stress possible.”

“Mr. Schlarman goes above and beyond every year to ensure not only the academics of his students but also the mental and physical well being of his students. Mr. Schlarman consistently checks in with his students to ensure their success and their needs are met. Mr. Schlarman uses his educator role for good and goes above and beyond any teacher I have ever known. He truly cares and appreciates every one of the lives that walks through his door.”

Schlarman has been teaching at North High since 2022. Before joining the district he taught seven years at Hazelwood West. He will be celebrated at the annual FZSD Recognition Dinner in May.

Congratulations!
