Fort Zumwalt School District welcomes Marc Schultz to the curriculum team as the Executive Director of Teaching and Learning, effective July 1. Mr. Schultz has been a part of Fort Zumwalt for more than 20 years, the past 10 as Principal at Hawthorn Elementary in St. Peters.
The role focuses on partnering with school leaders and curriculum coordinators to strengthen classroom instruction and improve student outcomes. Some of the role’s responsibilities include analyzing data trends to inform instructional decisions, collaborating with the district’s instructional coaches to support teaching practices, and overseeing K–12 virtual instruction. The position also provides leadership and support for key programs across the district, including the gifted program, counseling program, and literacy initiatives.
“I am most excited about working alongside building leaders and instructional coaches, being present in schools, and supporting the great instructional work already happening across our district,” Schultz says of his new role. “I will continue to focus on building a strong instructional culture, one that values collaboration, continuous improvement, and practical support for teachers so students benefit from high-quality learning every day.”
When he’s not at school, Mr. Schultz and his wife are busy with their four tween and teen children, usually at their sporting events. “Each of our children are amazing and unique, and we are proud of each of them,” he says. When he can, he likes to get in a round of golf or travel to various Major League stadiums to cheer on the Cardinals.
Before his time as Principal at Hawthorn, Mr. Schultz spent three years at Forest Park Elementary as assistant principal. He started his career teaching fourth and fifth grade at Twin Chimneys. A Francis Howell graduate, he has a bachelor’s in Elementary Education from University of Missouri-St. Louis, as well as a Master’s in Educational Administration from Lindenwood and an Educational Specialist degree from Missouri Baptist University.
