Welcome Dan Meyer, Director of Construction, Renovation and Building Systems

Dan Meyer joins Fort Zumwalt School District this month as the Director of Construction Renovations, and Building Systems. Meyer will be responsible for overseeing projects, large and small, across Fort Zumwalt’s 27 school campuses and six support service buildings, which total more than 3 million square feet of facilities. He says he is looking forward to managing the big picture of ongoing projects and future needs across the district and balancing that with the attention to detail needed to monitor progress on each site and budgetary considerations.

“I'm very excited for the opportunity to impart my knowledge of the construction industry to the district,” Meyer says. “My big goal is to streamline the district's construction process between the Board of Education, district construction and renovation staff and the contractor.”

An O’Fallon native, he graduated from St. Dominic, studied business at St. Charles Community College and technology and engineering at Mizzou. Meyer started his career as a carpenter and carpenter foreman. He completed the St. Louis Carpenter’s Joint Apprenticeship Program in 2012. He has spent the past four years as a Construction Superintendent with LCS and, before that, held a similar position for 10 years with Demien Construction.

Meyer is looking forward to using his experience to make a difference in his community. “I'm excited to be part of a community I'm actively involved in and I am hopeful I can make a positive impact on the long term goals of the district,” he says.

When not on a construction site he does his best to stay outside. “I spend an awful lot of time at youth baseball, soccer, and basketball games and tournaments due to both of my boys being heavily involved in sports,” he says. The boys are 10 and 11. “Other than that, I enjoy spending time on the golf course, hunting, fishing, or any activity that keeps me outdoors.”
