The Fort Zumwalt North dance team recently delivered a standout performance at the State competition, cementing their status as a rising force in the circuit and showcasing significant year-over-year improvement.

Record-Breaking Hip Hop Performance

In a highly competitive Division 5 Hip Hop category, FZN earned 4th place with a final score of 257.3. While the division was deeper than in previous years, the team’s performance reflected a massive leap forward in technical execution.

The score is particularly noteworthy for several reasons:

  • Season Highs: The 257.3 mark is an improvement over the team’s previous high score this season at Seckman.

  • Beating the Benchmark: The team successfully surpassed last year’s State Hip Hop score of 253.9—a performance that previously earned them a 2nd-place trophy.

Progress in Pom

The team also saw success in the Pom category, earning a 247.6. Mirroring the success of the Hip Hop routine, this score represented a steady climb from the team's early-season performances, showing a peak in form just in time for the State stage.

Reflecting on the season, the program's leadership noted that the team placed well at every competition they entered this year.

"This season demonstrated continued growth for our program," said Head Coach Kaylee Sevier "I am extremely proud of the team and the standard they continue to raise each year. Achieving this level of scoring with a small team speaks volumes about their dedication."

With the State competition concluded, FZN Dance looks forward to building on this momentum and continuing their upward trajectory in the seasons to come.
