Fort Zumwalt East High School student Maya Babb spearheaded a community literacy initiative last week, leading a team of fellow Lion students to build two Little Free Libraries and organize a large-scale book drive.
Ahead of Fort Zumwalt East’s Friday night football matchup against Lutheran St. Charles, Babb and her team rallied students, families, and community members to donate children's literature. By kickoff, the effort had successfully gathered over 300 children's books.
The newly constructed Little Free Libraries will be installed locally to give young readers continuous access to free books. Babb’s leadership and the generous turnout from the FZE community highlight the powerful impact student-led service projects can have both on and off the field.
