Coach Schifino will be joining us from his wrestling days in Connecticut, where he was a four time state qualifier in high school and two time captain. Wrestling led him into his passion, sports science where he holds his doctorate. He began coaching in Pennsylvania for the Greater Norristown Titans Club where he worked with 150 driven male and female wrestlers. A Coach is often one of the most influential people in your life, especially in cases where family support is vacant. I found great support from my teammates, coaches, and the sport as a whole, that I believe made me the person I am today. I hope to be to my athletes what my coaches were to me
His favorite sports memory was: Last year I experienced a young first-year (11U) wrestler take 3rd place in the country league championship, with a move I taught just two days prior. A very proud moment that cemented my love for coaching!
Coaching Philosophy in One Sentence: My job is to help every athlete become the best version of themselves; on the mat, in the classroom, and in life, long after their final match.
Favorite Quote/Motto: Your desire to win is proportional to what you are willing to sacrifice
Favorite Team: Philadelphia Flyers
Hobbies Outside Coaching: Cycling & Hanging with my dogs
I am most excited about the opportunity to improve our athletes' experiences in the sport. I hope I can contribute to more Lions qualifying for MO states, and all of our athletes to a successful graduation date.
