Rick Padgett and company have been working their tails off this summer and were the most impacted group when it came to our summer paint work. During the hot summer months, kids are up here drilling, learning technique, and working in small groups to prep for the marching season. When school starts, they are outside four mornings a week working. Rick is a major part of this. He can be seen every morning giving praise where needed and often and critiquing parts of the show that need work. He has students in small groups with leaders that are working together in their sections without that adult assistance. It's been awesome watching the show come together and this past weekend, they took Grand Champions at Smith Cotton! Keep up the great work Mr. Padgett!
Mr. Padgett says, "I appreciate the recognition of all the hard work everyone has been doing. I think the thing that jumped out at me was "and company" - it really takes a great team with Ryan, Jocelyn, Sarah, Patrick, and Haley to help these students achieve at a high level. I am so grateful to be here with them. I often tell my students that integrity is doing the right thing, even if no one is watching. I have been fortunate in my life to have some wonderful role models who instilled in me the importance of striving for excellence. In my head, I can still hear my high school band director encouraging us to consistently give our best effort. Hopefully, I can pass on those lessons that had such a positive impact on me."
